The Resource Balance publishes independent analysis on the security of essential resources — water, critical minerals, food and health — and on the institutions, data and claims that shape how those resources are governed.
Founded in 2026, the review works from a simple premise: decisions about resources are only as good as the evidence behind them, and a great deal of that evidence now reaches the public unexamined. We read the numbers, question the methods, and try to keep both columns of the ledger open — the risks of acting and the costs of not acting.
We are a small, independent publication. We do not campaign, endorse projects, or take positions on behalf of any operator, government or advocacy group. Our contributors write in a personal capacity.
The Resource Balance is published with the support of the Fondation Meskar, which endows independent research and public debate on resources, development and stability. The Foundation has no role in the selection, commissioning or editing of what appears here; editorial decisions rest solely with the review.
